Apple today updated the Apple Store app to version 5.12, bringing a completely redesigned user interface to the iPad.
The new design leverages the sidebars introduced with iPadOS 14 last summer. Apple has also made several other changes to the app, including updates to "Today at Apple" sessions and the iPad shopping experience. First and foremost, the new design features a sidebar on the left side of the screen that users can choose to show or hide. It functions the same way as other iPad apps in iPadOS 14, such as the new Music and Photos apps. Apple has added a new dedicated "Recent Orders" category to the sidebar for quick access to Apple Store orders.
Apple Store App: New virtual “Today at Apple” sessions to come
All categories that were previously displayed only as a grid are now available in the sidebar for quick access. In addition to the new design, Apple has added the ability to "seamlessly add a keyboard or Apple Pencil while shopping for your iPad." This option now appears in the configuration tool when choosing an iPad's size and storage capacity, similar to how it currently works on the web. Apple has also announced that it is introducing new virtual "Today at Apple" sessions so users can "learn everything from the basics to ways to stay productive." This new version of the Apple Store app is available now on the App Store. available and as always free. (Photo by Denis Rozhnovsky / Bigstockphoto)
