Pitaka MagEZ Case for iPhone – Smart and classy

Many iPhone users don't want to use their beloved iPhone without a case. There are dozens of color, material and shape variations. While some look like a tank, others are smart and classy. But one manufacturer stands out in particular - Pitaka.

The accessories manufacturer Pitaka advertises particularly high-quality, thin and unique iPhone cases made of aramid fiber. But what exactly is aramid fiber and what makes it so special? Pitaka explains the whole thing as follows:

Aramid is short for "aromatic polyamide". It is a class of man-made strong synthetic fibers with high performance. They were originally developed and used for aerospace or military applications. The molecules of these fibers are characterized by relatively stiff polymer chains. These molecules are connected by strong hydrogen bonds that transfer mechanical stress very efficiently, making it possible to use chains with relatively low molecular weight. The aramid fiber is thinner than the average human hair and has a characteristic yellow color. It can be woven and dyed for various patterns.

The special feature is obvious. The Pitaka MagEZ Case looks good, it is tough (5 times stronger than steel) and despite everything it has a "grippy" but not too slippery and scratch-resistant surface - a very important feature for me personally. Incidentally, aramid fiber is also known as a "high-tech luxury material". In addition to aerospace, it is also used in hypercars and more. But that's not all. Unlike competing products, there are no connection problems with the Pitaka MagEZ Case. This means that the 14g case made of aramid fiber does not interfere with mobile or WiFi connectivity, GPS signals or even wireless charging. Note: I am a frequent phone user, can you say that?

Okay, so what's the catch?

The feeling of holding an iPhone without a case is completely different than with one - of course. If you have a silicone or leather case on, this strange feeling disappears and the device becomes thicker and heavier overall - but it is protected. However, thanks to the aramid fiber, Pitaka seems to have found a middle ground - with a small catch. Thanks to the 14g light case, the iPhone feels like a "naked" iPhone and is still protected. But it has more openings than other cases. While the iPhone is protected at the corners, the sides are partially open. A feature that certainly won't appeal to everyone. Overall, however, I can say that if you can live with that, you will definitely like the case.

cost and compatibility

After a week of use, I couldn't find any cons. Quite the opposite - I need more. The price is debatable. The Pitaka MagEZ Case costs around 49.99 euros and is available in seven colors. The price will certainly put some users off. But anyone who actually decides to buy it will certainly not regret it. The Pitaka MagEZ Case is available for the following devices on Amazon or can be purchased directly from the manufacturer:

  • iPhone 11/11 Pro/11 Pro Max
  • iPhone Xs/Xs Max/XR
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone 8/8Plus

  • Galaxy Note10/Note10+ 4G/5G
