The first case of infection at Apple was reported around three days ago. An employee on the Apple campus in Cork was infected. Two more cases have now followed.

When the first Covid-19 infection case on the Apple campus in Cork, employees were instructed to stay at home while the offices were being thoroughly cleaned. Now two more cases have been confirmed. The news site writes EchoLive:

Two more cases of the coronavirus Covid-19 have been discovered at Apple's headquarters in Hollyhill, according to sources. The two new cases bring the total number of Covid-19 cases at Apple's headquarters to three, as the number of cases across Ireland has risen to over 70 in recent days.

As with the first case, employees were advised to go into self-isolation to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. An unnamed employee is said to have described the situation at headquarters to EchoLive as "alarming." Apple issued a statement earlier this week. It says:

Isolation could trigger a domino effect

One of our staff in Cork has been confirmed to have Covid-19. We are working closely with local health authorities who assess the risk to others as low and the individual remains in self-isolation. As a precautionary measure, we have asked some of our team members to stay at home while we work with the Health and Safety Executive to assess the situation. We continue to carry out regular deep cleaning of all our offices and stores and will take all necessary precautions in line with the advice of health authorities.

Apple controls European distribution, sales and customer service from Cork. If more cases of Covid-19 are reported, the isolation of more employees could trigger a domino effect for Apple's entire European operation. (Photo by Shiva3D / Bigstockphoto)
