The latest iOS version does not seem to be kind to the battery. More and more users are complaining about reduced battery life on their iPhones.
Since the first post in early June, Apple's support page on "iOS 11.4 & Battery Consumption" has accumulated more than 50 subpages of complaints. Users' statements are similar: the iPhone consumes enormous amounts of power, but isn't in active use. "Older" models like the iPhone 6, 6s, and 7 are particularly affected. The issue isn't related to battery health.
WiFi & Hotspot – the culprits?
Currently, the Wi-Fi function is suspected - back in June it was said that the 5 GHz wireless networks were a problem - if the iPhones are connected to these, the battery drains faster.
Some users even report problems with the personal hotspot. According to battery statistics, this is responsible for 50% of the energy consumption. The interesting thing is that the function was not even activated.
iOS 11.4.1
Apple itself has not yet commented on this – iOS 11.4.1 may provide a solution.
