Lenovo, on the other hand, grew by 27.1 percent, making it the only major manufacturer to experience growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-der-umsatz-fallt-langsamer-als-die-stuckzahl\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sales are falling more slowly than the number of units sold<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two figures measure different things \u2013 Omdia counts shipments to retailers, while Apple records realized revenue. Nevertheless, the difference is revealing: Unit sales fell by 7.5 percent, while revenue only declined by 5.9 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">This suggests that the sales mix has shifted upwards. Those who bought an iPad last quarter, on average, opted for a more expensive model than in the previous year. This interpretation aligns with Omdia's observation that manufacturers' portfolios are shifting overall towards more expensive devices \u2013 a pattern <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apfelpatient.de\/en\/news\/apple-holds-65-percent-of-the-premium-smartphone-market\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_self\">also evident in the premium smartphone segment<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apple itself points out that more than half of iPad buyers in the June quarter purchased an iPad for the first time. Furthermore, the same period last year was unusually strong, which makes the comparison even more difficult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-ein-sommerquartal-ohne-schulstart-effekt\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">A summer quarter without a school start effect<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More remarkable than the decline itself is its timing. The second quarter is usually stronger than the first because demand picks up around the start of the school year. According to Omdia&#039;s count, this pattern has been broken for the first time in years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Research Manager Himani Mukka, the reason is not a lack of interest. Tablets are an integral part of many households, and in numerous applications, detachable keyboard tablets are increasingly replacing traditional PCs. Education and mobile professional use remain key areas of demand. The problem lies on the supply side: the shortage of components is now reaching categories that are not a priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-deutsche-preise-stiegen-erst-nach-dem-stichtag\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">German prices only rose after the cut-off date<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">For the German-speaking market, the timing is crucial. Apple <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apfelpatient.de\/en\/news\/apple-raises-prices-for-macs-ipads-and-vision-pro-more-expensive\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_self\">raised the prices for Macs, iPads, and Vision Pro on June 25th<\/a> \u2013 two days before the end of the quarter. The company has explicitly announced supply shortages for iPhones, Macs, and iPads for the current quarter and expects to pay even higher prices for memory in the September quarter. If the same memory chips can be used in an iPhone or an iPad, it&#039;s foreseeable which device will be preferred. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apfelpatient.de\/en\/news\/storage-crisis-divides-smartphone-market-apple-wins\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_self\">memory crisis is now dividing the market<\/a> not only between manufacturers, but also within individual product lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In practical terms, this means that if you have a specific iPad model in mind, you should buy it as soon as it&#039;s available, rather than waiting for a price correction. None of the available figures indicate that such a correction is imminent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-zwei-neue-ipads-sollen-im-herbst-gegen-den-trend-antreten\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Two new iPads are set to buck the trend this fall<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">Apple's response to a shrinking segment consists of two products, both of which have not yet been announced.
