Apple is set to revamp every single Mac over the next two years \u2013 from the entry-level MacBook to the Mac Studio. A new report outlines a roadmap with eleven models, new M-series chips, and the long-awaited switch to OLED displays. The rollout begins this fall.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The roadmap, based on a Bloomberg report<\/a>, comes at a time when the Mac is experiencing a noticeable recovery: Sales are expected to increase for the third year in a row, partly because more and more users are employing the computers for demanding AI tasks. For buyers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, this outlook comes at a critical juncture, following Apple's recent price hikes for Macs<\/a>. The upcoming model offensive will significantly influence the future value of these machines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The launch will take place in autumn 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The first releases are expected this fall: a redesigned 14-inch entry-level MacBook Pro and new iMacs. The MacBook Pro would be one of the first devices with the new M6 chip; the iMacs would be the first in two years. According to the report, both models are already fully developed and just waiting to be launched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The processor update fits the pattern emerging for this generation: Apple is initially releasing the M6 without Pro and Max variants<\/a>, postponing the top-of-the-line segment to the next series. The entry-level models are being upgraded first, with the more powerful versions following later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The OLED MacBook as the highlight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The most striking model on the roadmap is a completely redesigned high-end MacBook Pro with 14-inch and 16-inch screens, which will feature an OLED display with touch functionality for the first time. It will be powered by the M5 Pro and M5 Max processors. The launch is expected between the end of this year and early 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That the work is far advanced is shown by a minor detail: Apple is reportedly testing the devices internally with macOS 27.1, which is expected to be released at the end of October. The redesign with OLED is considered the real leap in this roadmap because it would fundamentally change the MacBook Pro for the first time in years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MacBook Air, Neo and the 2027 models<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A refresh of the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air is planned for early 2027, which would remain technically close to the current devices. A new entry-level MacBook Pro is expected to follow in the same year, adopting the form factor of the OLED model but using a regular M7 chip \u2013 the fact that the entry-level model is receiving the redesign as early as 2027<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MacBook Neo is also getting a successor, which Apple is reportedly testing with the A19 Pro chip and 12 GB of RAM. According to the report, the affordable notebook will be regularly refreshed with new colors, without any fundamental changes to its technology each time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mac mini and Mac Studio are connected to the storage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The timeline for the Mac mini and Mac Studio is still open. A new Mac mini is being tested with the M5 Pro and the regular M6, while the M5 Max and M5 Ultra are being considered for the Mac Studio. According to reports, the exact release date depends on the supply of memory chips \u2013 a bottleneck that is slowing down the planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These two computers in particular are in high demand among users who run AI applications locally. Demand now far exceeds supply, to the point that orders for some current models are only being delivered after at least three months. CEO Tim Cook admitted in April that it could take "several months" for supply and demand to balance out again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple's Mac roadmap to 2028<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Beyond the models mentioned, a longer timeline is emerging: A higher-end MacBook Pro with the M7 Pro and M7 Max is expected to follow between late 2027 and early 2028, and a MacBook Air with an OLED screen, as well as later an iMac with an OLED panel, are in development for 2028 at the earliest. This would gradually bring the screen technology to the entire product line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As detailed as the roadmap appears, it remains a preview based on a single report \u2013 dates, chip and memory configurations are subject to change, especially since Apple itself ties the release schedule for some models to supply availability.
