Apple is preparing the next minor maintenance update for the Mac behind the scenes. A clue from the ongoing beta phase suggests that macOS Tahoe 26.5.2 should be available to all users soon \u2013 along with the corresponding iPhone update.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While attention is currently focused on the upcoming system generation, Apple is keeping the current one running smoothly. Shortly after WWDC, the first developer betas for iOS 27, macOS Golden Gate, and the other new systems were available<\/a>. And it is precisely in these pre-release versions that a detail has now been found that hints at another update for the still-current macOS Tahoe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clue is in the next system beta<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Specifically, the second beta of macOS Golden Gate<\/a> includes an upgrade path starting from macOS Tahoe 26.5.2. This is a reliable indicator: For such an upgrade path to be included, Apple must assume that the corresponding devices will actually be running this version in the foreseeable future. In other words, macOS Tahoe 26.5.2 is an upcoming build that Apple plans to release in the near future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The update itself is likely to be unremarkable. Versions ending in .2 are classic maintenance releases \u2013 they don't bring any new features, but rather bug fixes and close security gaps that were discovered after the previous version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expected to be released alongside iOS 26.5.2<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

macOS Tahoe 26.5.2 isn't coming alone. The corresponding iOS 26.5.2 is being released simultaneously, having been in internal testing since mid-June \u2013 as evidenced by visitor logs on relevant Apple websites, a method that has reliably indicated upcoming releases in the past. This is also a maintenance update containing bug fixes and security improvements, and it should extend the latest fixes to the entire range of supported devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Multiple update strands at the same time<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It's remarkable how many software projects Apple is currently pursuing simultaneously. Besides the pre-release versions of the next generation and the upcoming .5.2 updates, the company is already testing macOS Tahoe 26.6 and iOS 26.6, of which two betas have been released so far. The fact that Apple is continuing the iOS 26 series unusually far with a sixth interim version<\/a> demonstrates how tightly scheduled its software roadmap is this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the update is expected to be released<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Since the 26.6 generation is already in advanced testing, only a narrow window of opportunity remains for the smaller .5.2 updates. Therefore, there is a strong likelihood that Apple will release iOS 26.5.2 and macOS Tahoe 26.5.2 this week, before attention shifts permanently to the next interim version and the fall.
