iOS 27 is primarily notable for its new features \u2013 but beneath the surface lies a consistent focus on speed, applied system-wide. One of the beneficiaries is, surprisingly, the power saving mode, which was previously considered a bottleneck.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the keynote list with its hundreds of new features surrounding iOS 27<\/a>, some items can easily get lost \u2013 including two concerning Low Power Mode. This year, in addition to the visible features, Apple has noticeably focused on bug fixes and performance improvements, and this focus extends to the mode that lengthens battery life by throttling background processes and performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The long list of changes includes two specific improvements for power saving mode: The camera starts up faster in activated mode, and it consumes less power at the same time. Both points address a weakness that many users are familiar with \u2013 the camera's sluggish opening, especially when the battery is already low.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is all framed by a series of speed improvements that Apple already highlighted in its WWDC keynote. Initial feedback on the iOS 27 developer beta<\/a> reveals a significant difference compared to its predecessor: Under iOS 26, the iPhone sometimes felt sluggish and difficult to use in low-power mode. While the refresh rate still drops in iOS 27, these observations indicate that the device remains consistently usable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, experiences vary depending on the device. While newer iPhones noticeably benefit, users of older models continue to report stuttering in Low Power Mode.
