The standard iPhone 18 will apparently be absent this fall \u2013 and now, for the first time, a statement from Apple's supply chain supports this expectation. At a shareholder meeting, a key supplier spoke of a delayed model launch from a major US customer. This corroborates what was previously only known from reports.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple typically unveils its entire iPhone generation in the fall, usually around mid-September. This year, however, things are likely to be different: Several reports suggest that the standard iPhone 18 won't be released until spring 2027<\/a>, with only the higher-priced models launching in the fall. A new statement from a supplier now provides further evidence that Apple is indeed deviating from its usual schedule \u2013 even though official confirmation is still pending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What the supplier hinted at<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The information comes<\/a> from Largan Precision. At the annual shareholders' meeting, CEO Lin Enping explained that a major US customer had postponed the launch of a new model to the first quarter of 2027. As a result, component procurement is shifting later in the year, which will increase the expected utilization of the plants in the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lin didn't mention any names \u2013 neither the customer's nor the product's. However, Largan is Apple's primary supplier of iPhone camera lenses, which makes the remark particularly revealing in light of previous reports. These reports indicate that the standard iPhone 18 will not be released alongside the more expensive models this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why the statement carries weight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This statement is particularly noteworthy because Apple's suppliers rarely disclose details about their customers' future product launches publicly \u2013 and certainly not directly. The fact that such a key partner is even talking about a postponement until spring lends additional weight to the prevailing expectations, going beyond mere market and analyst reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This transforms the situation from a repeatedly reported assumption into an indication stemming from the production process itself. While this doesn't definitively confirm a direct link to the iPhone 18, the pieces of the puzzle are increasingly coming together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple's two-part roadmap<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to reports, Apple plans to split its iPhone launches into two time windows in the future. The premium models are still expected to be released in September, while the more affordable versions will follow in the spring of the following year. Specifically, the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the first foldable iPhone Ultra are expected<\/a> in the fall of 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The standard model of the iPhone 18 would therefore follow around six months later \u2013 along with the iPhone 18e and the iPhone Air 2. This would create a separate sales window for these three devices, clearly separating them from the previous year's Pro models and giving the growing product range some breathing room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple has yet to comment on any of this, and the supplier hasn't named either the customer or the product. Nevertheless, the statement fits seamlessly into the picture of a company breaking with its established autumn release cycle of over a decade. Should the plan be confirmed, those interested in the classic iPhone 18 would have to wait until spring 2027 \u2013 while the preceding autumn would be reserved exclusively for the flagship models.
