But in specialized professional fields, the headset is increasingly becoming a serious tool. Now a new milestone has been reached: For the first time, a cataract operation \u2013 one of the most common surgical procedures worldwide \u2013 has been performed using the Vision Pro. What sounds like an isolated case could actually be the beginning of a whole new era in eye surgery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-wer-den-eingriff-durchgefuhrt-hat\">Who performed the procedure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Dr. Eric Rosenberg, an eye surgeon at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sightmd.com\" id=\"https:\/\/www.sightmd.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">SightMD<\/a> in New York, is responsible for the world&#039;s first procedure of this kind. These are intended to better meet the everyday needs of many users than a bulky headset. Cataract operations are among the most frequently performed procedures worldwide \u2013 in Germany alone, according to the Professional Association of Ophthalmologists, around 700,000 to 800,000 cataract surgeries are performed annually. If such routine procedures can be performed even more precisely and ergonomically in the future using mixed-reality headsets, with live support from experienced colleagues worldwide, patients will ultimately benefit most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Vision Pro may never become a mass-market product in the living room. In the operating room, however, it could be a real game-changer.
