One day after the updates for iPhone and iPad, Apple has now also released macOS 26.4.1. The update includes bug fixes and should, among other things, address the iCloud sync bug from iOS 26.4 on the Mac as well.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple has released the Mac equivalent of yesterday's iOS 26.4.1 and iPadOS 26.4.1 updates<\/a>. macOS 26.4.1 is now available for download on all compatible Macs. As with the iPhone and iPad updates, the official release notes are brief \u2013 Apple only mentions bug fixes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

macOS Tahoe 26.4 was released at the end of March and, in addition to new emojis, the battery charge limit slider, and MacBook Neo wallpapers, primarily brought under-the-hood improvements. Today's point update, 26.4.1, is a maintenance release only, without any new features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What the update contains<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Apple's release notes simply mention \"Bug fixes for your Mac\"\u2014without providing further details. Based on yesterday's iOS and iPadOS updates, it can be assumed that macOS 26.4.1 at least fixes<\/a> the iCloud sync bug that caused CloudKit-based apps to stop receiving change notifications in iOS 26.4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although macOS 26.4 wasn't directly affected by the same problem, according to the researchers who identified the bug, Apple may have made related fixes to the CloudKit framework on the Mac as well. Apple mentions "bug fixes" in the plural, which suggests further corrections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the mention of security content in the release notes, according to Apple's official security overview page, there are no new security updates in macOS 26.4.1 \u2013 the same pattern as with iOS and iPadOS 26.4.1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is how the Update is installed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

macOS 26.4.1 can be downloaded and installed via System Preferences under "General" > "Software Update". Installation requires a restart. As with all macOS updates, it is recommended to create a backup beforehand using Time Machine or another backup service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
