The MacBook Neo is currently attracting attention not only because of its price and new hardware, but also because of its internal design. The well-known repair platform iFixit has, as is their custom, completely disassembled the device and given it an unusually positive assessment.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The battery is particularly noteworthy: According to iFixit, the MacBook Neo has the most easily accessible MacBook battery in over a decade. Overall, the teardown reveals a significantly more repair-friendly design than many previous Apple laptops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple has frequently been criticized in recent years for the difficulty of repairing MacBooks. Glued-in batteries, hard-to-reach components, and soldered parts often made repairs complicated and expensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MacBook Neo, however, demonstrates a different approach. iFixit describes the laptop's internal components as surprisingly well-organized. In fact, the team even states that they haven't been this impressed with a MacBook since 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One possible explanation for this design change could be an upcoming EU regulation. This regulation stipulates that many portable devices must have user-replaceable batteries by the beginning of 2027. The MacBook Neo could therefore already be prepared for these requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

iFixit disassembles the MacBook Neo<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

For the teardown, iFixit used the more expensive version of the MacBook Neo, priced at \u20ac799. This model features a keyboard with Touch ID, but according to iFixit, both versions of the laptop can be opened "suspiciously easily.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lower case is still secured with pentalobe screws. These screws are less common than standard screws and require a special screwdriver. However, once the screws are removed, the cover can be easily removed by hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside, the layout is described by iFixit as "surprisingly sensible." Important components are easily accessible and not unnecessarily hidden under other parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The battery: The biggest improvement in the MacBook Neo<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The most noticeable difference compared to many previous MacBook generations concerns the battery. In the MacBook Neo, the battery is not glued in, but screwed in. A total of 18 screws must be removed. While this isn't a minimal effort, it nevertheless represents a significant improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The key advantage is that no adhesive is used. This makes replacing or repairing the battery significantly easier. According to iFixit, this is the device's biggest plus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This makes the MacBook Neo the most accessible battery in a MacBook since 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
