Apple Maps could soon be subject to stricter regulations in the European Union. The European Commission is currently examining whether the service meets the criteria of the Digital Markets Act and should therefore be classified as a gatekeeper. This follows Apple's announcement that Apple Maps and its advertising service, Apple Ads, have exceeded the relevant user thresholds. The Digital Markets Act was created to impose strict rules on large digital platforms and ensure fair competition.
