Apple has released the third beta of iOS 26.2, and while the update officially doesn't bring any major changes, the code contains a clear indication of a new framework, as MacWorld<\/a> reports. This framework is intended to allow users to set a different voice assistant as the default. The feature is currently disabled, but developers can already identify the relevant section in the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to newly discovered code, a section will appear in iOS settings where an alternative voice assistant can be selected. Once an assistant is chosen, it will take over the role previously reserved for Siri. This includes activation via the side button. It's also interesting to note that third-party assistants won't just appear as apps. The code contains a hint that an assistant could display its own interface directly on the home screen.
