The new pairing feature can be managed via the settings. This allows you to decide at any time which devices should remain visible for AirDrop or be unpaired. The PIN-based connection also ensures that unauthorized or accidental pairings are prevented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It's not yet clear whether this option will be added as a fourth default setting to the existing visibility levels, or whether Apple is planning a fundamental restructuring of AirDrop permissions. The current code suggests that the feature will initially only be available on devices running iOS 26.2, and that the behavior could change in later betas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple has been working on making AirDrop more secure for some time.
