For a long time, clear evidence was lacking, but now a beta version of macOS Tahoe provides the first concrete clues. It contains code references showing that Apple is testing a MacBook Pro with an integrated cellular modem. This could finally bring a feature that many users have long awaited.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple has made great strides in developing its own hardware in recent years. From the M1 to the M4 chips, key components of the MacBook Pro were developed entirely in-house. Apple has also designed its own cellular modems, which were first used in the iPhone 16e. It also performs better in practical tests than the previous mmWave modem in the iPhone 16. The report also mentions that the tested MacBook Pro is equipped with an M5 Pro processor. Apple has not yet officially announced this chip. Nevertheless, the discovery of the C1 modem in connection with the MacBook Pro is considered the first concrete indication that Apple is internally testing a 5G-capable MacBook.
