The cameras aren't intended for photos or videos, but rather for capturing visual data for Apple Intelligence. These are presumably infrared sensors that can detect movement and surroundings. The AirPods are said to be able to register head movements and adjust the audio playback accordingly\u2014especially when combined with Apple Vision Pro. The cameras will also be able to transmit visual information to the iPhone, which may still be in your pocket, for example. This would make it possible for Apple Intelligence to provide you with context-based information, such as the location of a nearby store based on scanned signs or shop windows. According to Kuo, Apple could have up to 10 million of these camera-equipped AirPods produced annually, including by Foxconn in India. The next generation of AirPods Pro is expected towards the end of 2025. The AirPods Pro 3 could feature a new design and, for the first time, an integrated heart rate sensor.
