According to a recent report, the company is developing its own social network. Social networks haven't seen much fundamental change in recent years. Platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and TikTok dominate the market. But precisely because the competition isn't necessarily becoming more innovative, now might be the right time for something new. OpenAI seems to have recognized this. According to a report by The Verge, several teams at OpenAI are working on a social network that is similar to X in terms of functionality. The project is still in its early stages, but there is already a working prototype. The current internal status is heavily focused on image generation through ChatGPT. There will be a social feed similar to those seen on other networks. What exactly this feed will look like and what functions it will have are not yet clear. However, the focus is clearly on AI playing a central role in the creation and distribution of content. According to the report, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has already sought external feedback. On the other hand, a standalone app could help clearly separate the project from existing offerings and position it as something new. The Verge also points out that OpenAI is working on many different projects simultaneously. This means there's no guarantee that the social network will actually be released. A key goal appears to be that artificial intelligence helps users create and share better content. This clearly distinguishes this network from previous platforms.
