This advanced packaging technology is currently in a test production phase, with the goal of starting mass production of the chips in 2025 and 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-m5-chip-dual-use-design\">M5 chip: dual-use design<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>References to the M5 chip have already been discovered in official Apple code. Apple plans to use this chip in both consumer Macs and its own AI cloud servers. The M5 chip will be manufactured using TSMC&#039;s 3nm process and is expected to enter mass production starting in the second half of 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Consumer Macs: The M5 chip will greatly improve the performance and efficiency of future Macs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apple&#039;s own data centers: For Apple&#039;s own AI cloud servers, the M5 chip will play a critical role in maximizing the performance of AI tools and cloud services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ubergang-von-m2-ultra-zu-m5\">Transition from M2 Ultra to M5<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, Apple&#039;s AI cloud servers run on multiple connected M2 Ultra chips, originally designed for desktop Macs.
