iOS 17 introduces a groundbreaking new AirDrop feature called NameDrop that lets you share contact information quickly and easily by simply holding two iPhones together. Instead of tediously typing numbers or sending text messages, you can now easily exchange contact information.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As soon as you hold two iPhones together, a pop-up window automatically opens, giving you the option to exchange contact information. You can view the person's contact information, customize your contact poster, and even choose whether you want to just receive or share your own information in response. This feature not only makes it easier to contact new people, but also updates the contact information in your Contacts app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compatibility<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

NameDrop not only works between two iPhones with iOS 17, but also between an iPhone with iOS 17 and an Apple Watch with watchOS 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

iOS 17: Enable or Disable NameDrop<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If you don't want to use NameDrop, disabling it is easy. You can do this in Settings under General -> AirDrop. However, note that this will also disable AirDrop's new Nearby Sharing feature, which you can learn about in our AirDrop "Holding Devices Together" guide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
