With the upcoming release of iOS 17, there are rumors that certain devices will no longer be supported by Apple. It is reported that iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 will not be compatible with the iPhone X, the first generation iPad Pro, and the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. This would mean that many devices with the A11 Bionic chip or older would no longer be compatible.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple is known for supporting older devices for several years. But eventually, older models will have to be phased out. This causes problems for users who don't have the option to update to the latest iOS version and thus can no longer use certain apps and features. Below we take a look at the devices that may be excluded from iOS 17 support. According to a trusted source (via MacRumors<\/a>), iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 will no longer support the iPhone X, the first generation iPad Pro (9.7-inch and 12.9-inch), the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and the fifth generation iPad. These devices were released between November 2015 and November 2017, making them older than the latest Apple products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only the sixth and seventh generation iPad models with the A10 Fusion chip are expected to be supported. The devices with the A5 to A11 chips are affected by a security vulnerability in the bootrom that Apple cannot fix on these devices because the bootrom is write-protected. This security vulnerability made it possible for these devices to be permanently jailbroken and users to modify the iOS file system. Apple is expected to announce iOS 17 at the WWDC keynote on June 5. Whether the rumors about the lack of support for older devices are true remains to be seen.
