Some fans are already asking when Apple will introduce the next iMac model. One person wants to know the answer: Mark Gurman from Bloomberg. As far as he knows, Apple will not launch a new 24-inch iMac until late 2023 at the earliest.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his current \u201cPower On\u201d newsletter affirmed<\/a> Gurman expressed his expectation that Apple would skip updating the iMac with the M2 chip and instead wait to release a model with the as-yet-unannounced M3 chip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I haven't seen anything to suggest there will be a new iMac before the M3 generation chip, which won't be released until late this year or next year at the earliest. So if you want to stick with the iMac, you'll have to be patient.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Apple's M3 chip is expected to be based on TSMC's latest 3nm process, which offers additional improvements in performance and power efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will Apple also update the 27\u2033 iMac?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The M3 chip is also expected to be used in a new MacBook Air, which is rumored to launch in the second half of 2023, as well as potentially future versions of the 13-inch MacBook Pro and Mac mini. In comparison, the M2 chip is manufactured using TSMC's second-generation 5nm process. Apple last updated the iMac in April 2021 with the M1 chip and a new ultra-thin design that comes in seven colors, including green, yellow, orange, rose, purple, blue, and silver. It is currently the only new iMac, as the Intel-based 27-inch iMac and iMac Pro were both discontinued in the last two years. Gurman has stated in the past that a larger iMac could return.
