Apple introduced a new HomePod yesterday, but that's not all. According to a new report from Bloomberg, Apple is working on a range of devices for the smart home, including new displays and a faster set-top box for Apple TV.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of these products is "essentially a low-end iPad" that can control HomeKit and make FaceTime calls. This iPad-like device is said to be the start of Apple's expansion into the world of smart homes. Bloomberg reported<\/a>that the design is designed to be mounted on the wall or elsewhere to allow easy access:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The foray into the world of smart displays will start with a tablet product - essentially a low-end iPad - that can control things like thermostats and lighting, display video and have FaceTime chats, according to people familiar with the plans. The product could be attached to the wall or elsewhere with magnetic mounts, making it more of a home gadget than a regular iPad.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The report goes on to say that Apple has "discussed the idea" of building smart home displays that are even larger than a regular iPad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But further details on those efforts have not yet been revealed. Development of those products has reportedly been delayed and they are unlikely to launch until next year. In addition to its interest in smart home displays, Apple is reportedly planning a new version of the Apple TV that could launch in the first half of 2024. The new model will feature an improved processor\u2014but the design will not change. Finally, Apple is continuing to work on a product that combines the Apple TV, HomePod, and FaceTime camera in a single device. That project has "suffered setbacks," according to Bloomberg.
