In recent days, reports have been pouring in about Apple's Mac lineup, with the future of the larger iMac in the spotlight. Now, a new report has surfaced claiming that Apple has no plans to introduce a larger iMac.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Citing unnamed sources with knowledge of Apple\u2019s product pipeline, reported<\/a> 9to5mac that Apple will not be releasing a larger iMac "in the near future." With the introduction of the Mac Studio, Apple discontinued the Intel-based 27-inch iMac, causing some confusion about the future of the iMac line. Apple confirmed<\/a> told Ars Technica that the 27-inch iMac has "reached the end of its life," suggesting that the company does not intend to position an updated 27-inch model alongside the 24-inch iMac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sources have mistaken \u201cStudio Display Pro\u201d for iMac Pro<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Despite the discontinuation of the 27-inch iMac, there have been rumors of a larger-screen iMac Pro that could be in development. But at least some of those rumors may have been confused with the Studio Display. Display analyst Ross Young said this week that what his sources thought was an iMac Pro is actually a "Studio Display Pro" that will be released later this year, perhaps alongside the Mac Pro. Young no longer believes an iMac Pro will be released this summer. Information from 9to5Mac also seems to support that assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will a large iMac make a comeback in 2023?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The website states that Apple is "not currently planning any new high-end versions of its all-in-one desktop," although a 24-inch M2 version of the iMac is due to arrive in 2023. Other sources suggest that we will see an iMac Pro at some point. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated last Sunday that an iMac Pro will launch in 2023. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman also claims that Apple is still working on an iMac Pro. For now, Apple recommends customers who want a powerful desktop computer to go for the Mac Studio, which starts at $2,299, while those who want an all-in-one computer can opt for the 24-inch iMac.
