Rumor has it that Apple will unveil the iPad Air 5 at the "Peek Performance" event. Now a last-minute report has appeared that focuses on the processor.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The updated iPad Air, which Apple is expected to unveil at the "Peek Performance" event, could contain the same M1 chip that will be used in the 2021 iPad Pro. At least that's what US blog 9to5Mac claims experience<\/a> The iPad Pro 2021 was the first iPad to feature Apple's M-series chip. With the M1, the iPad Air would be on par with the current iPad Pro models, the MacBook Air 2020, the 13-inch MacBook Pro, and the Mac mini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

iPad Air 5 could catch up with the iPad Pro<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

All previous rumors about the iPad Air have suggested that it will be similar to the iPad mini and have the same A15 chip as well as 5G connectivity. With the M1, the iPad Air would become very similar to the more expensive, top-of-the-line iPad Pro. If Apple goes for it, the ProMotion display technology (with MiniLED in the 12.9-inch model) and the LiDAR camera would be the main differences between the iPad Air and the iPad Pro models. The M1 chip has an 8-core CPU and a 7- to 8-core GPU. In comparison, the A15 chip has a 6-core CPU and a 5-core GPU, so the M1 offers some speed improvements over the A-series chips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
