Apple's first major iPhone and the fourth-generation iPad are now classified as "vintage," meaning service and repair options are extremely limited.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple defined<\/a> a device is not considered "vintage" until it has not been sold for five years. Up until that point, Apple offers service and replacement parts for its devices. But after that, repairs depend on what components are available. The most recent iPhone to be classified as "vintage" is the iPhone 6 Plus, which was introduced in 2014. Both the iPhone 6 Plus and the iPhone 6, which were released at the same time, were significant departures from previous designs. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were larger than their predecessors and introduced a new, slimmer chassis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
