Apple has now released the release candidate versions of iPadOS 15.2 and macOS Monterey 12.1 for registered developers. Universal Control is not included.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Universal Control is a planned feature for iPadOS 15 and macOS 12 Monterey. It allows users to place three Apple devices in close proximity and use them with a single keyboard and mouse or trackpad. Once connected, a user can simply drag and drop files between the devices and switch between them as needed. If you place a second device near a compatible Mac, you can connect your devices together using the Continuity features in the AirPlay & Handoff section of your Mac's Settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

System can also be controlled manually<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A gray bar will appear on the side of the paired devices. By dragging your cursor from one screen to another, you can "pass" your keyboard and mouse control to another device. This can be especially useful for moving documents, files, and pictures between devices. Apple says the devices use proximity to determine which device a user wants to connect. Based on the user's behavior, the system will arrange the computer and the other devices accordingly. But this alignment can also be controlled manually in the "Displays" control panel, so anyone who uses multiple devices will certainly be pleased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

macOS Monterey 12.1 & iPadOS 15.2 appear without the feature<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Now that the first RC versions of macOS 12.1 and iPadOS 15.2 be ready<\/a>, it is now clear that the launch of the useful function has been postponed again. At least Universal Control is not mentioned in the update descriptions. In addition, the feature is not yet available in the betas. It can therefore be assumed that we will not see it again this year. Both macOS 12.1 and iPadOS 15.2 and Co. will most likely be made available to all users worldwide next week.
