Apple has enabled end-to-end encryption for Safari bookmarks in iCloud, thereby increasing privacy and data protection for users.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Reddit<\/a> An update of the Apple website<\/a> "iCloud Security Overview," which indicates that in addition to Safari tabs and history, Safari bookmarks are now end-to-end encrypted. In other words, no one, not even Apple, can access users' saved Safari bookmarks anymore. Judging by the timing of the update, Apple likely made this change in conjunction with the release of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15. While Safari bookmarks now have end-to-end encryption, iCloud backups are still left out. For example, they are only protected with 128-bit AES encryption, as are photos, reminders, notes, and more. This means that Apple can decrypt the backup itself in order to release the contents if a law enforcement agency requests it.
