Yesterday, developers speculated about the reasons why their apps are currently unable to use the 120 Hz ProMotion refresh rate for all animations. Now Apple has spoken out and provided further details to several US media outlets.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, Apple told 9to5mac confirmed<\/a>that all third-party applications can take full advantage of the 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate. Developers must add a new Info.plist key to enable the option. Documentation will be provided shortly. Additionally, an upcoming software update will fix a bug where animations driven by Core Animation cannot reach the maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The iPhone's refresh rate adapts to what is on the screen to save battery life, as this is quite energy-intensive. For example, if you are viewing a static page on the Internet, the refresh rate slows down. However, it increases when you scroll.
