Stocks of the entry-level iPad are running low in Apple stores and online, suggesting that an update to the cheapest iPad could be imminent\u2014perhaps as early as this month.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delivery times<\/a> for the eighth generation iPad have slipped into October in the US and other markets such as China, Japan and some European countries. They are currently three to six weeks or are "currently unavailable". Now reported<\/a> Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman said Apple had instructed its retail employees \u201cnot to give consumers speculative reasons for the delays.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

iPad 9: September launch not completely ruled out<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Rumors suggest that the iPad 9 will come with a 10.2" display and an updated A-series chip. The device will have a Lightning port and will continue to use Touch ID in the home button. Like previous versions of this iPad series, this model will be aimed at students and those looking for a cheap tablet. Apple's seventh and eighth generation iPad models were both unveiled at events in September. So it's not completely out of the question that Apple will unveil an update soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
