Following widespread criticism, Apple has now announced that the company will not introduce its child protection features as planned and will instead take \u201cadditional time\u201d for consultation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple has sent an email to various US media confirmed<\/a>that due to the reaction to the original announcement, the company has decided to delay parental control features, including CSAM detection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last month, we announced plans for features to help protect children from sex offenders who use communication tools to recruit and exploit them and to limit the spread of child sexual abuse material. Based on feedback from customers, stakeholders, researchers and others, we have decided to take more time in the coming months to gather input and make improvements before releasing these critically important child protection features.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

CSAM detection and co.: start unknown<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

No specific details were given. It remains unclear what these consultations will look like. Apple originally announced CSAM features and more on August 5, 2021, stating that they would be introduced in the US during 2021. Other countries should then follow. Industry experts responded with an open letter urging Apple not to introduce these features. The objection was that these features could be used for surveillance.
