Apple's upcoming iPadOS 15 will offer partial support for the NTFS format, bringing the mobile operating system in line with macOS.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Files on iPadOS cannot move, modify, or write data in the format typically used by Windows machines, although users can read files from an attached NTFS drive as they would on the Mac. While the utility is limited, iPad owners who upgrade to the latest version of the operating system this fall will be able to view read-only files rather than a blank disk when an NTFS-formatted disk is connected to the tablet. iPadOS 15: Files app gets new progress bar<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

In addition to NTFS support, the Files app gets a new progress bar when moving or copying data. Tapping the pie-shaped graphic opens a larger progress bar that provides detailed information about the data transferred, the data remaining, and the time remaining. Finally, Fjordstrom notes that users can select multiple files at once by using a click-and-drag gesture on a connected trackpad.
