Rumor has it that Apple is planning to introduce new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, each with a miniLED display and an improved iteration of the M1 chip. Now new devices have been discovered in a database.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The notebooks are widely expected to have a new design with a flatter top and bottom and more ports, including the return of an HDMI port, SD card slot and magnetic power cable. Rumors also suggest that the Touch Bar will be retired in favor of physical Fn keys. Now entries have been discovered in a Chinese regulatory database. The first entry, filed on April 14 by Apple supplier Sunwoda Electronic, refers to a battery with the Apple-like model designation A2527, which has a capacity of 8,693 mAh\/11.45 V. This is similar to the battery in the current 16-inch MacBook Pro, which according to iFixit<\/a> has a capacity of 8,790 mAh\/11.36 V. Sunwoda Electronic is the same vendor that submitted the alleged iPhone 13 batteries spotted in the same Chinese database earlier this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the filing is correct, the next 16-inch MacBook Pro would have a slightly lower battery capacity than the existing model, possibly due to the thinner design. However, any potential impact on battery life would likely be mitigated by the switch from Intel processors to more power-efficient Apple Silicon. In fact, battery life could even be longer than the current generation. But back to the entries in the database. In addition to the first entry, a second one was discovered, also submitted by Sunwoda - but on March 30th. The model identifier is A2519. According to the datasheet, the battery has a rated capacity of 6,068 mAh at 11.47 V.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will Apple unveil the devices during WWDC 2021?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

That's slightly more than the 5,103 mAh of the current 13-inch MacBook Pro. The redesigned chassis for the larger 14-inch display will likely accommodate a larger battery. As a reminder, a similar increase in battery capacity was seen back when Apple replaced the 15-inch MacBook Pro with the 16-inch device. Be that as it may, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman previously reported that the redesigned MacBook Pro models will be unveiled as early as summer. Leaker Jon Prosser expects the MacBook Pro announcement to be part of WWDC next week. Of course, as always, whether they'll be right remains to be seen.
