It has now been announced that the iGroup bought the Danish startup Spektral at the end of 2017.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>It is already known that Apple buys startups from time to time. However, this is not always made known or only much later - as in the current case. According to media reports, Apple paid around 31 million US dollars for the most recent acquisition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is Spectral?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Denmark-based company is considered a specialist in the field of photo effects. The technology behind it can separate people, animals and objects in the foreground from the background of the image. This simplifies editing a photo. Image backgrounds can be exchanged as desired or the people, animals and objects themselves can be placed on new photos. The technology includes machine learning.<\/p>\n\n<p>Such a feature would significantly improve the iPhone&#039;s camera. What Apple ultimately intends to do with the newly acquired technology remains to be seen.
