II-VI manufactures VCSELs (vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers) needed for the Face ID function, as well as lasers for the LiDAR scanner:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>II-VI makes vertical cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) that help power Face ID, Memoji, Animoji, and Portrait mode selfies. Apple also partners with II-VI to make lasers used in the LiDAR scanner\u2014a technology that helps deliver faster, more realistic augmented reality experiences and improves low-light autofocus in photos and videos.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-apples-advanced-manufacturing-fund-vergab-bereits-390-millionen-dollar\">Apple&#039;s Advanced Manufacturing Fund has already awarded $390 million<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Apple COO Jeff Williams <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/newsroom\/2021\/05\/apple-awards-an-additional-410-million-from-its-advanced-manufacturing-fund-to-ii-vi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">expressed<\/a> in the press release as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\" id=\"h-wir-haben-den-apple-advanced-manufacturing-fund-gegr-ndet-um-amerikanische-unternehmen-zu-unterst-tzen-die-technologien-der-n-chsten-generation-und-die-arbeitspl-tze-von-morgen-schaffen-ii-vi-teilt-unser-engagement-die-grenzen-der-innovation-zu-verschieben-und-wir-sind-stolz-darauf-unsere-gemeinsame-arbeit-auf-das-ganze-land-auszuweiten\"><p>We created the Apple Advanced Manufacturing Fund to support American companies that are creating next-generation technologies and the jobs of tomorrow.
