Two Apple executives discussed the new 24-inch iMac, its design elements and the integration of the M1 chip in a recent podcast interview.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colleen Novielli, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Apple, and Navpreet Kaloty, Engineering Program Manager, recently appeared in "Upgrade" podcast<\/a> of Relay FM to talk about the new M1 iMac. Commenting on the fact that the iMacs now come in a bevy of bright new hues, Novielli explained that the colors are meant to "convey a sense of brightness, optimism and joy." She added:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I think we can all agree that this is something everyone needs right now.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Apple Mac product manager also discussed the design elements of the 24-inch iMac, including the controversial chin and bezels on the front of the device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The edges are meant to complement the typical home design and blend in with the background. The light grey edges are great. The lack of strong contrast makes for a more seamless experience for the user.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

As for the chin, Novielli explains that Apple was able to fit the iMac's internal components into that space. She says the chin makes the iMac's color pop while allowing Apple to significantly reduce the thickness of the device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked whether Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID<\/a> will sell separately, Novielli declined to comment. However, she added that the keyboard would work with any M1-equipped Mac. As for the overall design, hardware manager Kaloty said that the inclusion of the Apple silicon chip affects every aspect of the new iMac's design. This includes the I\/O on the back of the device, which now consists exclusively of USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 ports. The brand new iMac can be officially pre-ordered from Apple starting Friday, April 30. Delivery is expected to start in the second half of May, according to Cupertino. (Image: Apple)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
