Will Apple hold a digital event this month or introduce new products via press release? This is a question many fans are asking. In fact, there are a few hot candidates, including AirPods 3, AirTags and new iPad Pro models.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In recent years, Apple has liked to make a few minor product updates in the month of March. While last year it released press releases, the Pursue<\/a> a keynote in previous years. But similar to WWDC 2020 and the fall events, a digital event could follow this month. At least that's what rumors have suggested. But which products could be presented at an event or via press releases? Below you'll find an overview based on rumors and leaks.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will Apple host an event in March?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Previous rumors claimed that Apple was considering an event on March 16. However, Bloomberg recently stated that nothing of the sort was planned for that day. If Apple were actually planning a virtual event, the company would make an announcement about a week beforehand. This means that March 16 is already out of the question. Something could be scheduled for the end of the month. An alternative to events are press releases. This means that the announcement of new products is also possible without an event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AirTags \u2013 Will Apple introduce the new accessory?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It remains to be seen whether Apple will hold an event or prefer press releases. But which products could be presented? Let's start with the AirTags - the most popular of all rumors. The product was leaked back in 2019 and has therefore been with us for a long time. The presentation of the small trackers has been promised again and again - but in vain. Based on recent clues in the iOS 14.5 beta and reports from reputable sources, it could start soon. Accordingly, a presentation this year is not out of the question. As a reminder: "AirTags" are coin-sized trackers that users can attach to objects that they fear they might misplace or lose. Using the same "Find My" app as for tracking down a lost iPhone or iPad, the accessory can be used to track where said objects are that do not have built-in tracking functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AirTags \u2013 iOS 14.5 paves the way for the accessory<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The classic example could be a bag. Using a combination of Bluetooth and ultra-wideband technology, the position of the token can be determined in public by other people's iPhones. The encrypted ping is sent back to the owner via iCloud, who can then help locate the device using the "Find My" app. The application has iOS 14.5 over an area<\/a> called "Objects". Both AirTags and third-party devices can be stored in it. Due to the addition of this area, some now believe that Apple will finally introduce the AirTags. It at least increases the chances, right? In addition, there are statements from leakers that suggest an imminent introduction. Since iOS 14.5 paves the way for the product, an early launch is not completely out of the question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

iPad Pro 2021: With MiniLED technology?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Another very prominent update candidate is the iPad Pro. The professional tablet was already updated in March 2020 - but the update was minimal. For this reason, a major update would be quite plausible. If the rumors are to be believed, the design will hardly change this time either. However, the device could receive a display with miniLED backlighting to offer a much better image on OLED level. The integration of 5G, a better chip and minor internal changes are also planned. In addition, the sound system is expected to be improved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sixth generation iPad mini<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the Pro series, Apple could also refresh the iPad mini. At least that's what various sources suggest. The small tablet was last updated in March 2019 and is in urgent need of an update. In addition to more power, the device could receive a slightly larger display thanks to a narrower frame. In addition, the iPad mini 6 will also rely on Lightning and retain Touch ID. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

AirPods 3: New design of earbuds?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The AirPods are also one of the hot March candidates. In fact, Apple could introduce the third generation AirPods in the next few weeks. There have already been plenty of corresponding hints, leaks and rumors. If this is to be believed, Apple could drastically change the earbuds. Bloomberg reported in October that Apple plans to introduce new entry-level models with a shorter stem and replaceable ear tips. This means that the AirPods 3 would have an in-ear design instead of lying on the ear like the current AirPods do. So while they could appear in an in-ear design, they are not expected to have the noise cancellation that is available in the Pro version. Not much is known about new features, however. It is safe to assume that Apple will increase performance and efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

iMac in a brand new design<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Apple announced last year that it plans to switch its entire Mac line to Apple Silicon over the next two years. Given this tight timeframe and the breadth of the product range, it seems plausible that Apple will soon update more Mac models. The next Mac update could reach the iMac line. There have been repeated reports of a 24" iMac with a design reminiscent of Apple's Pro Display XDR. The device could receive the successor to the M1 processor - perhaps the M1X or M2 chip? But what else speaks for an imminent launch? Based on recent reports that Apple has discontinued certain iMac 21.5-inch versions, suspicions are growing. The company has also officially confirmed that the iMac Pro is being discontinued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is a new Apple TV planned?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Apple last updated the Apple TV in 2017. That was when the Apple TV 4K was introduced. While many users are very happy with the device, observers are expecting an update due to Apple Arcade. It is reported that Apple is developing a more powerful device in order to be able to offer much more demanding games in the future. The focus is therefore on performance. But the remote control is also to be revised as part of this. However, an introduction this month is not very likely - at least there are no concrete indications of this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What about new MacBooks?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This is different from the Apple TV 6. There are plenty of reports that brand new MacBooks are on the way. But if you believe the sources, the new devices will only appear later in the year. Accordingly, new MacBook models do not seem to be candidates for a March launch - at least not as things stand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

iOS 14.5 \u2013 When will the final version be released?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Whether Apple will actually introduce new hardware in March remains largely open. In the end, only Apple can answer this question with certainty. However, things are a little different with regard to iOS 14.5. The new software update is currently in the third beta. According to Apple, the update will be released in "early spring". It can therefore be assumed that iOS 14.5 will be released at the end of March or beginning of April. The new features include expanded functionality, more emojis and improved data protection.
