Apple today informed developers that the company has introduced additional guidelines for App Store privacy labels, a feature Apple has required for all apps since December.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the developer website, Apple provides a detailed list of the type of information developers must provide for their apps, as well as explanations of the types of data collection that must be disclosed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Data collection for tracking, third-party advertising, marketing, and other reasons must be disclosed to users. Developers are required to inform themselves based on Apple's guidelines. Since December, the company has required App Store developers to provide app privacy label information so that new applications and app updates can be submitted to the App Store. But Apple apparently does not review all of the information submitted by developers. In January, the Washington Post reported that more than a dozen apps had included inaccurate or misleading data in their privacy labels. Apple responded by saying that it subjects developers to routine and ongoing reviews of the information provided. The company works with developers to correct inaccuracies and said that apps that do not disclose accurate privacy information may be rejected for future updates or removed from the App Store entirely.
