YouTube users can once again access picture-in-picture mode in all browsers on the iPhone or iPad when they visit the mobile YouTube site. This requires iOS 14.5.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With iOS 14, the native picture-in-picture function was introduced for the first time on the iPhone, but apps must explicitly support this function. Applications that already enable this on the iPad do not need to be subsequently adapted - a good example of this is the news app NTV. Now, however, many users are waiting for YouTube. But so far, the app has not integrated the feature. At times, users were able to use a workaround to do this in Safari<\/a> This means that users \u2013 whether with or without an account \u2013 could watch videos via Safari and activate the PiP feature as they wish.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, this function was blocked by Google. But now it is possible again. The prerequisite is iOS 14.5. I have tried it out personally and can confirm it. It is not known whether it will stay that way or whether Google will block it again. However, the action was ridiculous and led to a shitstorm.
