Unlike most competing headphones, the AirPods Max are made primarily of metal, which makes it more likely that they will get cool enough to absorb water from the warmer air inside the ear cups - which is made even more moist by sweat. AirPods Max: Condensation impairs functionality<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The simple physics of the matter suggests that any humid, warm environment where colder metal exists will result in some amount of condensation. So the phenomenon is not particularly surprising and could happen to anyone. Moreover, this also applies to some other headphones - so this is not just an AirPods Max problem. But unfortunately, in some cases it already has negative effects. If there is a high amount of condensation, problems with functionality can arise. According to initial reports, these become noticeable, for example, when they are put on. This means that the sensors do not recognize whether the headphones are being worn. Once this is the case, the ear cups must be dried in order to function smoothly again. Apple itself has not yet commented on this, but the company may submit a corresponding support document later.
