A recently discovered patent suggests that Apple is considering a matte black MacBook. The patent description explains why there is no such product yet. It also suggests a possible solution.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple could introduce a completely matte black MacBook at some point in the future. The design alone should be a reason for many to buy it. But the idea is not as easy to implement as the report by Patently Apple discovered<\/a> patent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cases for portable electronic devices may include an anodized layer that can be tinted in various colors to increase their cosmetic appeal to the consumer, but certain colors are far more difficult to achieve than others.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Black is one of those colors \u2013 but Apple seems to be working on a solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matte black MacBook: There is an alternative<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The etched anodized surface of the housings with light-trapping features (also called light-absorbing features) is capable of generally absorbing almost all of the visible light incident on it. In addition, any visible light not absorbed by the light-trapping features is diffusely reflected by the light-trapping features. As a result, the etched anodized part is characterized by a matte, low-gloss surface. The matte, low-gloss surface in combination with black color particles penetrating the pores are capable of obscuring surface geometries of the external surface.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Apple does not seem to be completely opposed to such a product. However, it is important to mention that such patents are only implemented in very few cases. So the whole thing could just remain an idea. But if you are really interested in a completely different look, you could use foils, for example.
