But now development is said to have definitely started.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rumors that Apple is developing its own cellular modem are not new. When Apple acquired Intel\u2019s modem division in 2019, the number of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apfelpatient.de\/en\/rumors\/apple-plans-to-use-its-own-modems-from-2021\">reports<\/a> Now Bloomberg has published a new article, according to which the development of its own mobile phone modem has definitely started. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2020-12-10\/apple-starts-work-on-its-own-cellular-modem-chip-chief-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">news site<\/a> According to reports, Johny Srouji, Apple&#039;s vice president of hardware technologies, held a meeting to this effect. During the meeting, Srouji confirmed that Apple has begun building its own cellular modem to be used in future devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-mobilfunkmodem-ger-cht-sorgt-f-r-kursrutsch-bei-qualcomm\">Mobile modem: Rumor causes share price slide at Qualcomm<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>This year we started development of our first internal cellular modem, which will enable another important strategic transition. Long-term strategic investments like this are a critical part of enabling our products and ensuring we have a rich pipeline of innovative technologies for our future.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>It was already expected that Apple would benefit from Intel&#039;s modem division. The company is currently developing some of its own cellular chips, including the H1 chip used in the AirPods and the U1 chip (ultra-wideband) found in the iPhone and Apple Watch. With its own cellular modem, Apple will have even more control over general connectivity on the iPhone, Apple Watch and iPad models with cellular. If the plan succeeds, Apple will replace the Qualcomm modems with its own chips and save significantly more costs. In addition, it is expected that the efficiency of the devices will increase in addition to performance.
