There are various rumors about a new iMac series that is due to be introduced very soon. Now new benchmarks have emerged that show a previously unknown iMac model with Intel's Core i9-10910 CPU and the AMD Radeon Pro 5300 graphics processor.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new benchmark results for a previously unreleased iMac were examined in more detail by Tom's Hardware explained<\/span><\/a>The find is believed to be an iMac that includes a 10-core Intel Core i9-10910 processor. This appears to be a custom chip designed specifically for Apple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With 28.6 percent higher base clock<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

As a member of the Core i9 family, the CPU has the same base specifications as the other variants. In this case, the processor has 10 CPU cores, 20 threads, and 20 MB of L3 cache. Ultimately, it is the listed clock speeds that differentiate the Core i9-10910 from its siblings.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The results show that the Core i9-10910 runs at a 3.6GHz base clock and a 4.7GHz boost clock, suggesting that it is a higher-clocked version of the Core i9-10900 with a 28.6 percent higher base clock. The blog believes that the Apple-exclusive version of the chip is a 95W processor, putting it between Intel's other 65W and 125W options. Since Intel's Comet Lake S portfolio doesn't officially have such a chip, it's at least reasonable to suspect so.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

iMac in a brand new design?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Why exactly would Apple make a custom order? It's hard to say. Cost could be a factor. The Core i9-10910 likely uses recycled silicon that doesn't meet the requirements for the Core i9-10900K. That would make the unannounced CPU cheaper to manufacture.<\/p>

Additionally, it would be more profitable for Apple to use a Core i9-10910 instead of a downclocked Core i9-10900K in its upcoming iMac. Additionally, putting a locked processor in the iMac would prevent users from overclocking.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the Geekbench test results indicate that the upcoming iMac will be equipped with the as yet unannounced AMD Radeon Pro 5300 graphics card. This is likely to be a desktop variant of the Radeon Pro 5300M that AMD announced last year. It remains to be seen whether Apple will release the new series of devices before the fall. Some rumors have suggested an iMac with a brand new design.
