According to reports from Asia, not every charger will be good enough for the new iPhones.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fact that Apple will be including new power adapters with iPhones in the fall has been mentioned several times in the rumor mill. But the possible side effect of this may not be to everyone's liking. The next iPhone generation could have an authentication requirement for chargers.<\/p>\n

If you believe Macotakara<\/em>, Apple will use the new iPhones USB-C authentication standard<\/em> \u2013 C-Auth for short \u2013 which was developed as part of USB Power Delivery Revision 3.0. This allows the device to recognize whether it is connected to a certified cable or not.<\/p>\n

The fight against fakes<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fast charging function would therefore only be possible with Apple's own charging adapters or with certified third-party products. If the rumors are true, then there will be a 18-watt charger\u00a0<\/em><\/a>(Lightning to USB-C) instead of the previous weak 5-watt power adapter. This step can be justified with more safety for iPhone users, as the damage caused by faulty, poorly manufactured and cheap imitations could be reduced.<\/p>\n
