Last week I reported that an unknown leaker on Twitter had revealed some features of the upcoming Apple Watch Series 6, including a panic attack feature<\/span><\/a>Now the function has been confirmed once again. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, it is claimed that the Apple Watch Series 6 will have a sleep monitoring function and offer significantly longer battery life. In addition to the S6 processor, the new smartwatch will feature a pulse oximeter, which can, among other things, measure oxygen saturation in the blood. Furthermore, the new sensors are said to be able to detect panic attacks. This rumor was revealed last week by an unknown Twitter user and confirmed by Jon Prosser, a YouTuber and leaker. Now, as part of a Podcasts<\/span><\/a> talked about the function. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to his sources, Apple also wants to take mental health into account in the future and the detection of panic attacks is the first step. Although the feature is earmarked for the sixth generation of the Apple Watch, there is a risk that the function will not appear until next year - says Prosser. The smartwatch should basically be able to measure the oxygen in the blood and the heart rate of the user to determine whether they are hyperventilating. Apple wants to be able to detect an impending panic attack. If the Apple Watch wearer is in the car, Apple's computer watch would warn them and ask them to get out. The user would then have to do a breathing exercise. Interestingly, however, Max Weinbach, a leaker and the YouTuber EverythingApplePro, have also heard of a similar feature. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, they believe that the function could also appear on the Apple Watch Series 4 and Series 5 via a software update. Accordingly, it is not an Apple Watch Series 6 special. This means that if it is a backwards compatible function under watchOS 7, Apple could release it as early as June 22nd as part of the digital WWDC 2020<\/span><\/a> reveal. However, if it is a Series 6 special, the function will not be presented until the unveiling of the new Apple Watch generation at the earliest. Prosser also explained that the new smartwatch can detect both heart and respiratory problems while measuring the oxygen saturation in the blood. If that is actually true, it would be a remarkable leap in the area of mental health.
